Whims at the Supermarket

The supermarket is a magical world, full of colors, curiosities, sounds, scents: everything seems to attract the attention of children who, overwhelmed by too many stimuli, become unmanageable. Here are some practical tips to avoid tantrums in the supermarket:

  • His shopping list: cut out some pictures of his favorite biscuits, diapers, paper towels or other light and unbreakable objects from a magazine and glue them together with him in a notebook. This will be his shopping list with which he will be able to help you and remain involved and interested in purchases.
  • The right place: if the little one is happy in the cart, let him bring his favorite stuffed animal or a booklet that can distract him. In hot weather, when the temperatures in the frozen zone are lowered to polar levels, avoid leaving the trolley stationed there.
  • Mom I want this, Mom I want that: set the terms of any extra purchases at home. If he insists, on the other hand, evaluate how tired he is or how much you are to bear the crying and the whim and if it is better to give in. Only if you are calm, try to distract him.

He always sucks his finger Eight out of ten children insist on the  'bad habit'  of sucking their thumb (sometimes other fingers too), which turns into a concern for parents.  In fact, continuous sucking  can alter the growth of teeth,  especially permanent ones.  It can also cause  infections in the nail  of the  sucked  finger  - fingernail - due to the microbes that take root in a macerated area of the skin, without any more defenses.  Finally, the suckling baby introduces air into the stomach more easily, resulting in  bloating. Causes and solutions Today, dissuasive measures, such as gloves or bitter substances on the finger, are no longer adopted.  Rather, one wonders  what drives the baby  towards this self-comfort: early weaning that deprived him of the joy of sucking in the first months of life?  Rhythms beyond your abilities?  The arrival of a little brother? Solutions:  rep...

The first social stages Children's  first social stages Often children are affectionate and cooperative from an early age - a delightfully disarming attitude for adults.  But is it an innate or environmentally induced attitude?  Let's try to understand together ..  Here is a brief summary on the social stages of the child from the first months to after 2 years: AFTER BIRTH AND UP TO 7-9 MONTHS,  the baby has no possibility of 'sympathizing' with his fellow men,  as he does not perceive himself as being autonomous but as  something undifferentiated from his mother  (especially during the first 2 months, the newborn perceives himself as an extension of the mother herself).  And when he begins to realize his uniqueness, he initially feels a sense of anxiety and insecurity that manifests itself with  fear of strangers  (which usually appears around the 8th month). THEN, TOWARDS THE YEAR OF LIFE,  crawling and the first steps...
